Just a quick post to remember those who landed on the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944. My dad was at Juno Beach with the Régiment de la Chaudière while six of my uncles took part with other regiments or the Canadian Navy.

We here in American forget we were not the only ones on the beach that day.
We all need to remember. I wish the US had a "remembrance" day with a poppy in the lapel.

Glen,
Thanks for your comment and your thoughts. All soldiers, from all countries, that participated in D-day are brothers; to remember one is to remember them all.
Sadly, The National, our national news broadcast, mentioned D-day only in passing and 30 minutes into the broadcast. So many risked their lives 67 years ago and the national broadcast lead with game 3 of the Stanley cup. The announcer then tells us that we mark the day every 5 years only. I guess we don't want to stretch our gratitude to much.
Meanwhile, in Bedford, VA, wreaths were laid to remember the day. You Americans have your hearts in the right place.
The few veterans that are still alive have learned long ago not to expect thanks for their bravery but I hope I never stop getting angry when we forget them.
