I was driving around listening to podcasts. I was listening to an episode of Phil McKinney’s Killer Innovation Podcast in which he mentions “corporate antibodies”. So what does this have to do with project management? Nothing directly but if like me you have a warped mind and are lazy, you come up with “project antibodies”.
You know the type; they analyze everything until they are satisfied that they (personally) are not a risk. The problem is that they never reach that comfort level and the project ends up paralyzed. They are also the ones that always say that it can’t be done. The definition of a project is:
A temporary endeavor, having a defined beginning and end, undertaken to meet unique goals and objectives, usually to bring about beneficial change or added value.
If I’m not wrong unique goals and objectives mean never been done before which implies that if you listen to the project antibodies not only it’s never been done but it’s never going to get done.
I guess that means that you have to wipe out the project antibodies if anything is to ever get done.
What do you think? As always questions and comments are welcome.
